Best Web Site Submission Service?
Don't submit.  Don't get ripped off. Do this instead.

Are you a new website owner? Have you read any web sites like this lately?

We will perform monthly submission of your web site
to hundreds (or thousands) of search engines for a whole year.

Whoopee!  Unfortunately, there are lots of folks offering "silver bullet" services that will supposedly solve all your website inclusion and ranking problems.

The only guy with silver bullets is the Lone Ranger.

There are no magic solutions for getting your website to work with search engines.  Don't buy the hype.  There is lots of solid information here in my website that will help you get and stay on the right track.  It takes a comprehensive approach which may prove to be hard work but it's not magic.  It may also prove to be lot of fun.

Consider these facts:

  • In the USA (and most of the rest of the world) there are only three search engines that matter for delivering significant traffic from organic search:  Google, Yahoo, and in far distant third place, Live.com.  Some folks might say Google, Google and Google.  Read the September 10, 2007 Nielsen ratings for search engines.  AOL and About make up the rest of the top five, but they don't count for much traffic.

  • In December 2008, Google expanded its usage share in the U.S. search-engine market to a  whopping 72.1 percent of all queries, up from 65.9 percent in December 2007.  The other three main U.S. search engines all lost share. Yahoo came in a very distant second with 17.8 percent, Microsoft Live was third with 5.6 percent, Ask.com ranked fourth with 3.4 percent.  These four engines total 98.9 percent.

  • Research and experience show that the very best way to get your website found by search engines is to get one or more links in from other websites that are already in the index of Google, Yahoo, Live.com and other search engines.  I have seen brand new websites make it into the Google index in less than a week by linking in to the new web from my web site or other websites.  Don't know anyone with a website?  List your web site with one or more reputable directories.  Look at stpt.com, botw.org, exactseek.com as examples.  They are not free, but you are getting value for your money.

  • You can register your website for free with Google and Yahoo using Google webmaster tools and Yahoo Site Explorer.  Read how to become number one at Google.  Learn how to create a xml sitemap.  Note that registering a xml sitemap is NOT the same as manually submitting.  If you want to manually submit to Google, Yahoo and Live ONCE and once only, you can.  Google says they will come visit your website (maybe) in 4-6 weeks.

  • You can register for free at DMOZ.org but inclusion will take some time, many months most likely.

  • Open a free Google account and visit Webmaster Tools and visit Yahoo Site Explorer.

  • Once you are in the search engine index of Google, Yahoo, Live.com or any other search engine, submitting your website to them again can be regarded as spamming and could result in penalties.  Submitting again, once you are in the index, would be like you adding me to your address book and then me calling you up once a month and telling you my phone number again.  How dumb is that?

More Ideas to Supercharge Getting In the Google Index

There are some things you can do so that Google indexes your web site or new web page within days not weeks.

Tip 1: Get a link from an existing site

Links are very important for high rankings on Google. The more (quality) links you have, the higher Google will rank your pages.

An easy way to get a link to your website is to join a forum that is related to your website. Participate in the discussions and sign your posts with your name and a link to your website.

Make sure that you do not spam the forums. Only participate in an online discussion if you really have something to say about the topic. If you post in a well known forum then Google will quickly pick up the link to your site.

Tip 2: Create an external blog

Google likes blogs and many blogs are indexed very quickly. Use Google's Blogger.com service to create a blog that is related to your website subject or business.

You can set up the blog as a page in your website, or you can set it up externally at Blogger.  Either way, Google indexes Blogger blogs frequently.  They own Blogger.  I have put links to brand new pages in my website in my blog and several have made it into the index with rankings in less than 48 hours.

Write a few posts and add a link to your website in your blog posts. Google will quickly index your Blogger blog and find the link to your site.

Tip 3: Get as many links as you can

The more other websites link to your website, the sooner Google will find your site. Look at IBP's link building tool and IBP's directory submitter as useful tools to get as many links as possible.

Note that quality is more important than quantity.  And, also note that contrived purchasing of links from link farms, etc. will get you in Google trouble.  Read Google's webmaster guidelines regarding linking along with a lot of other good information about web site dos and don'ts from Google's perspective.

Why am I telling you this?

Getting started with a new website is tough enough as it is without unscrupulous folks taking advantage of your lack of knowledge and experience.  The idea of submitting your website was a good idea 6-7 years ago, but not any more.

One of my favorite sayings is "Stupid is forever - ignorance can be fixed."

I enjoy helping other people be successful and since I make most of my living from the search engine optimization and web design work I do, I might be able to help you some day.  Maybe I have already?
