SEO Instruction Files with Consulting Assistance

During these very hard economic times, I have been working on ideas to help more people increase Google hits and one good way to do this (and make a little money in the process and better yet, make more friends) is to offer helpful search engine optimization instructional information that you can implement yourself.  This will be especially helpful for little guys and gals like us and folks on a tight budget who can't afford to pay a professional SEO firm to do it for them.

You might want to read my page about the SEO project process we use to help our clients.  This is the same process we will follow except you will be doing almost all of the work.

The first place to start is to look at the top left in the navigation on this page and go request my Free SEO Help files and the other free SEO information offered here in my website.  The Free SEO Help page will also help you understand my motivations about helping others succeed.  Helping others succeed is one of the best feelings in the world?  That's what I believe.

If you are interested in do it yourself SEO then go to my SEO Questionnaire, fill it out and mention in the comment text area that you want DIY optimization help.  Also, tell me what your budget is so that I can tell you what we can accomplish that doesn't break your budget.  I will take a quick look at your website and reply using my new messaging system which avoids back and forth emails and makes it easy to upload and download files.

I have a number of prewritten search engine optimization instruction files that I update whenever best optimization practices change.

The first file starts with the thing most small websites and do it yourself webmasters miss: getting your website structurally correct which makes it fast and easy for website robots and spiders to find and crawl your content.  Assuming that you are competent with FTP, this first phase of the improvement process takes about an hour, a little longer if you do not have Google, Yahoo or Live.com accounts already set up.  Everything else you need to do is free of cost.

The next step in the process is to do a little search phrase research, which I can do for you using the Wordtracker database.  To learn more about why this is important, read my keyword services page.  Wordtracker used to allow you to sign up by the day or the week, but not any more, so a quarterly account may not fit your budget.  If you ARE going to sign up for Wordtracker, I would appreciate your using my affiliate link so I can earn a few dollars for referring you.

I will send you the research in Excel format along with my how to interpret Wordtracker help file along with some additional information about how to determine accurate search volumes using several online tools.

The next step is to edit your existing content or create new content to support the search targets we have discovered from research.  Copywriting is usually the most time intensive part of any SEO project.  Visit my web copywriting basics and home page copywriting tips pages to learn more about writing good pages.  I can help analyze your copy if you wish, either before or after it goes online.

Most small websites are created to earn business from a local market.  I have a very thorough instruction file which is my Local Search How To.  The instructions in this file are mostly for things you would have to do yourself anyway, so it is perfectly suited to the "how to do SEO myself" inquiries that I see in Wordtracker research, which is why I am including this phrase in this paragraph.

Who shouldn't do this?

If your website is all in Flash, nothing will presently help you earn top rankings.  If your website uses frames, I recommend getting it out of frames before you get to work.  If your content is all in graphics, you are in almost the same situation as Flash.  It takes words in text to earn rankings.  If your website is hosted at a free service, you will significantly benefit from buying a real hosting account.  There are a few other got ya's but they are infrequent.

If your website is about porn, hate, frivolous nonsense, anything marginally unethical or worse, I am not interested.  Save your email stamps.

You need a basic understanding of website editing and how to do FTP (file transfer protocol).

How do you know this will actually work?  Does Ron know what he's doing?

I have no problem with skepticism, it's healthy to be cautious up to a point.  For starters, go open another page in your browser, go to Google and search the words used as anchor text for every link in the body of this page down to this point?  Do you see any that are lower than # 4 on Google page one?  Skill is better than luck, but it's good if you are lucky.

Are there any guarantees?

As far as the results of your do it yourself efforts, the answer is no.  There are no silver bullets and I am not using any BS buzzwords about how you can help yourself.  SEO companies that offer "guarantees" are not the folks I would recommend you work with.  Read why if you wish.

I do guarantee that if you read the first file or any of the subsequent files and they are not of any value to you, if you put it in the recycle bin and flush, and tell me you will not use the information in the file for whatever reason, I will give you your money back.

What does it cost?

The instruction files are US$50 each and are not sold online.  You can go to my home page and use either PayPal or Google Checkout to send me your payment and I will deliver the files via my messaging system where you can download them using your browser.

If you also intend to use my consulting help to guide you though this process, send me US$100, which is my rate for an hour of consultation, using my messaging system.  If we end up not spending an hour (I account for my time in 10ths) I will refund any unused balance.  If you need more time, I will advise you to send me another hundred, same deal as above.  No invoicing and no collections will help us keep our costs down so we can do more.

What else will you get?

When we see results, which won't take very long, I will be pleased to give you a free blog post supporting your page target of choice, like the post I made for Rhonda.  I expect that you will also make a comment to the post that says, as you wish to say it in your own words, that what we are doing here worked for you.

There may be someone else offering a service like this, but I am not aware of any.  My interest is to do as much good as we can as fast as we can to help everyone help everyone else during these extreme economic times.  I believe in paying it forward, just like the movie.  I also believe that you can never give away kindness. It always comes back to you with interest.
