What is EcoCover?

EcoCover is a New Zealand invention, a family of biodegradable organically certified mulch mats made up to 87-percent by weight from waste paper.

EcoCover is made like a sandwich, two pieces of post-consumer recycled Kraft paper with a center filled with shredded "white paper" or clean office waste.  The core of the mat is also a carrier for things like organic fertilizer, soil amendments or minerals.  This is part of our unique design which is patented in 21 countries including the USA and Canada.

EcoCover replaces plastic film and woven plastic products like landscape fabric.  Plastic is environmentally and economically unsustainable and will continue to rise in price as the costs of precious natural gas and petroleum rises.

EcoCover is in use in North America in various sampling tests and trials, but it is not being manufactured here, yet.  We expect to be manufacturing in the Spring of 2007.

How Big is the
Market for EcoCover?

It may be hard to imagine, but every year around the world we use more than 30 million acres of plastic to mulch row crops, landscape flower beds, orchards, nurseries and home gardens.  In the USA alone, we use over 3 million acres of plastic film annually.

One EcoCover manufacturing plant running three shifts 5 days a week 240 days a year will produce about 1,800 square acres of our EcoCrop product, enough to mulch 3,600 acres of ground or more depending on the row spacing.  The markets are huge and essential.
