Sustainable business marketing and sustainable business development services are uncommon these days, and badly needed.   Ron Castle Webs would like to be your internet resource for promoting the renewable business and sustainable business activities that will be the new standard for the world of the future.  Like most sustainable business ideas, we are thinking outside the box and have affordable cost effective solutions that are essential, especially for small business and new start-up companies.

Sustainability has become a business buzz word worn out by misuse.  What most businesses do in the good name of sustainability really amounts to nothing more than working to reduce in various and sundry ways their level of un-sustainability.

Real sustainability is more than the opposite of un-sustainability.  Real sustainability is about the idea that humans and other life on the planet will go on forever in a balanced closed-loop system which is our biosphere.  Sustainability is about life in a functioning system where everything is in balance with everything else - homeostasis.  To quote Teresa Heinz, we need to "... start seeing ourselves as part of the natural world and to replicate the joyful, productive and intelligent practice of life itself."

Un-sustainability is about slowing down the environmental degradation that is throwing our closed- loop system out of balance.  Slowing down is not a bad thing.  But, if you want to go to Los Angeles when you are actually driving toward New York, slowing down will not help.  When you are headed in wrong direction, you have to turn around to go the other way.

Consider this:

The economy is a subset of the environment.
The environment is NOT a subset of the economy.
As the environment goes, so goes the economy, only SOONER.

When humans encroach on Nature, like the loss of habitat or the extinction of a species, we have little idea of the real meaning or the ultimate result.  What difference does it make?  We understand much about nothing and nothing about much.  The human race is expert at everything except living in harmony with the rest of life on our planet.

Those of us who have lived close to Nature, who have studied connections and love our planet know that everything is connected.  Life on our planet is an interconnected web, more amazing than the internet ever will be.  If the human race is to be successful in preserving our long-term place on planet Earth, we must learn to mimic the web of Natural systems by:

  • Creating no waste that is not food for some other living organism
     

  • Valuing natural capital that provides us with clean air, clean water, healthy food, shelter and habitat, that makes life on earth not just possible but enjoyable.  Natural systems provide these services at no cost.  We cannot replicate the services of Nature at any cost.  If we destroy the natural capital of planet Earth we also destroy ourselves, our hope and our future.
     

  • Investing in natural capital by restoring ecological diversity, respecting all living species, preserving habitat for other living things, using only what we need to live adequately and respecting all life, human and nonhuman.
     

  • Finding our place in the world, not based on our ability to dominate, but by our ability to cooperate.  Our ability to dominate is unquestionable.  Humans are dominating our planet to the extent that we are now the major cause of change, to the demise all other living things and the quality and quantity of the Natural Capital  support system on which all life depends.  Our ability to yet understand the result of human domination is highly questionable.  We need leadership.  You can be a leader, if you so choose.

The internet is a human invention that has the prospect of being used for boundless good for sustainable and renewable business marketing.  We want to maximize that potential to the best of our abilities for an essential cause.  There is no reasonable alternative, so let's do it.
