Is the Google Sandbox gone? The short answer
is no but the content filter has been minimalized, my
opinion is that this is due to Google's response to the
lousy economy.

For the uninitiated, back in January-February 2005,
search engine Google updated their algorithm, what is
called the "Bourbon" update, and in the process decided
to penalize new websites by not awarding them the
rankings that a web that has been online for a while
deserves based on the merits of optimization. This
is widely referred to as the:
Google says it doesn't exist. In Washington, DC
folks call this "misrepresenting the truth". In
Tennessee we call it lying.
The Sandbox and Google's TrustRank
The Sandbox and TrustRank are part of Google's ranking
filters, the most important element of which appears to
be time online and the age of your website. The
age of your web site influences your rankings as well as
the age of the web sites that link to your web site. In
addition, Google checks when other web sites link to
your site and how your inbound links grow over time.
If you have a new domain name it is more difficult to
get high rankings on Google. Google doesn't know your
web site yet so it doesn't know if it can trust your web
site or not.

Nobles.
Due to the lack of trust, new web sites usually have to
deal with more filters than old web sites. It can happen
that a new site gets great rankings and then it
disappears from the rankings for some months. This
phenomenon is what the Sandbox Effect appears to really
be all about.
A high TrustRank means that Google has learned to trust
a web site. It is probably six months to several years
old or older with reputable sites linking to the web
site and a good inbound link history building over time
that hasn't used spam techniques in the past.
A web site that is in the Sandbox probably does not have
a high TrustRank. Inversely, a web site with a high
TrustRank won't go in the Sandbox.
The older your web site the better. It seems that
Google's filters tend to be stricter with new domain
names so it's more difficult to get high rankings with a
new domain name. New domains have to prove that
they are trustworthy before they can get high rankings.
To show Google that your web site is trustworthy, get
good inbound links to your web site and keep working on
inbound links. The longer other web sites link to your
site and if new web sites begin to link to your site the
more likely it is that you'll get high rankings.
You should optimize the links to your site. If the right
web sites link to your site, you show Google that your
web site can be trusted.
Trustworthy Directories
We have a list of good directories which are all pay for
inclusion. This is one way to get some solid links
into your website. Pay for inclusion is presently
about $900 plus the 3-4 hours it takes to complete the
listings.
Structural Compliance
One of the other
key issues with new webs is to go online and be
structurally compliant the first time Google indexes
your web. My guesstimate is that less than 10% of
new webs meet this requirement. Those that do have
been performing well with Google right from the get-go
in many cases.
An Alternative Solution
I have another workable solution for the other 90% of
web owners of new webs that won't get your web out of
the Google Sandbox, but I can get your web content found
on Google.
I am not giving the solution away as this represents a
competitive advantage. I can tell you that the
cost should be less than $500 in all but the most
exceptional situations, if we do this for you.
You don't have to be a Google whiner.
