Does Outsourcing Help America?

Update February 18, 2009

A common question asked by folks who are not familiar with professional SEO services, is how long does it take to get new content into the Google index?

Assuming that your website is already in the index and that you have been keeping your content current and have a xml sitemap updated when you add, remove or modify content, here is one answer.

My page about outsourcing which is linked from the title of this post went online February 11. The original version of this blog post went online the same day. This blog post showed up in the Google index February 15. The web page showed as being cached on February 16 but had no rankings. The web page was ranked overnight yesterday and if you search for Does Outsourcing Help America at Google this morning you will see my page ranked # 2 out of 4,350,000 pages containing those four words.

18 - 11 = 7 days to earn a ranking

16 - 11 = 5 days to get crawled and cached (4 days in the case of the blog post)

Based on observing my own work, this is typical for a well maintained website. The record for me for getting crawled, cached and ranking so far in 2009 is a little less than 48 hours, which is luck of the draw for hitting the timing just right with the GoogleBot.

Lots of folks who contact me about improving their websites tell me others have told them MONTHS for getting changes in the index. If that's what you are being told, politely end the conversation and look elsewhere.

We will be glad to show you how or teach you how to do this yourself. If you want to do it yourself, read my new Do It Yourself SEO page.

Animation Production Studio Now #1 Google

In August and September 2008 we helped the ever most talented Kerry and Pauline, owners of 3D Magic Factory, bring their visually lovely but targeted content sparse website on to Google page one for animation production studio.

You can see the original post here.

We have been Google number two for a while, and yesterday we ascended to number one.

We might swap places with the other web again, this sometimes happens, but we have bragging rights today, so we are taking them!

Congratulations, ladies.  If you are happy I am happy.

Sermon Transcription and Miracles

Faith First Transcription is a sermon transcription service focused on Christian ministries and businesses. Owner Rhonda, who is my not too far away neighbor here in Tennessee, contacted me less than two weeks ago and asked what we could do on a very small budget to get her some search engine rankings for her new do-it-yourself GoDaddy website.

A quick look showed that all the structural elements important for getting indexed deeply and quickly by Google et al were missing. Her pages (there are only five) were mistitled and tagged but to her credit she did have enough content on three important pages to be able to have a shot at some not too competitive search targets.

We had a brief conversation by phone and then started swapping information using my new support messaging system which eliminates email and allows file uploads and downloads. Rhonda did all of the implementation work herself following several instruction files I have written for low budget clients who can manage the process themselves. We did a little search phrase research, picked our targets and Rhonda has done the rest.

Today she has six pages in the Google index and has a number one Google ranking for sermon transcription Tennessee and a first page ranking for sermon transcription service.

So, we went from not in the index to all pages in the index and first page rankings in less than two weeks.

I would never deny the power of prayer and the presence of miracles, and perhaps that is where the credit belongs.

But there is nothing wrong with relying on skill and hard work to get what you want out of life, or for search engine rankings. Rhonda is a very sharp and quick study and a determined implementer. Yes we can, and yes we did.

Way to go, Rhonda, say a prayer for my website!

3D Animation Production Studio

Great 3D animation production doesn't have to cost an arm and a leg, not if you do it the way Kerry and Pauline do it at 3D Magic Factory. This Austin, Texas based animation studio does a great job for helping clients make the best choices to achieve their animation goals.

We have been working with the 3D Magic folks to help earn a ranking for their home page and have earned a Google page one number four ranking for animation production studio along with a number of other first page rankings for similar phrases.

The process involved getting their website structurally correct followed by writing some good home page copy. As you might expect for visually oriented folks, the website is mostly short on copy, although the information that they have is informative and their visual elements are quite excellent.

Tax Man Gets Top Google Rankings

My new client, Mike Habib, and I have been working for about a month to get his existing website whipped into shape so that we can start earning some Google rankings. Mike is an Enrolled Agent with the Internal Revenue Service, meaning that he is a licensed practitioner to help you with your tax woes if you have any.

We did a structural redesign of Mike's web mainly behind the scenes to clean up some really funky web programming and structure. We did all the little things I recommend here in my blog.

Low and behold, Mike went on holiday for a couple of weeks and came back to find his home page # 1 on Google for IRS tax relief Los Angeles.

Here's the query http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&aq=t&ie=UTF-8&rlz=1T4GGLF_enUS239US239&q=irs+tax+relief+los+angeles

We have some other first page rankings as well which is not bad for a website with less than a dozen pages.

Now we are ready to pick some bigger targets - Mike assists folks all across the country not just in L.A. - and see what we can do.

I hope you don't have IRS tax problems, but if you do, you need Mike Habib.

Cheers,

Ron Castle
