Professional SEO Firm
About Ron Castle Webs
Affordable SEO
consulting services and "professional" may sound like an
oxymoron, especially if you have been burned by folks who
say they are but aren't. It's not that way at Ron
Castle Webs. We are an
intentionally small firm, a mom and pop if you wish,
providing professional SEO and web design services mainly to small businesses like us,
other professionals and nonprofit
groups.
Occasionally
we run into a project opportunity with a large organization,
some of which we can handle, some of which are too large for
our small group. If you are reading this and have a
large project, please contact us
and I will refer you to colleagues who are both competent
and staffed up to handle big projects. See
there are no silver bullets down
this page if you need an incentive.
How We Do SEO
If you search
on Google for
SEO project
process you can read my number one page about
the methods we use to earn favorable positions in the search
engine index. Professional SEO
is predominately a language skill, but there are also a
number of little behind the scenes (of your website) geeky
things that many SEOs, webmasters and propeller heads don't
know or don't do.
Are they
important? Every little advantage is important with as
many web pages as there are online competing for the words that
describe whatever you do or sell.
Please read
this post in my blog about how it can work even for the
inexperienced webmaster with a very limited budget: the post
target is
Sermon Transcription and Miracles to support the
client's web page target with a valuable inbound link, also
called by some a back link.
The evolution
of organic search is presently undergoing some amazing
changes such as local search and personalization of search
are changing the way search engines value websites and web
pages. The way search engines evaluate websites is
becoming less and less linear.
This makes it
more and more important to have much more than just
rankings: website usability, earning qualified traffic,
increasing conversions (inquiries) and closing sales.
I could dish
out some bragging rights about top performing web pages we have helped our
clients create, but I would prefer to show them to you
instead. Can do and will also give you a list of
clients you can contact if you wish.
There Are No Silver Bullets
One of the
unfortunate things about being a SEO professional is that
there is presently no
search engine optimization certification. SEO
has been and to a lesser degree continues to be the wild
wild west. All you have to do to be a SEO professional
is to say you are one. Repeat after me: I am a SEO
professional. There you go, my compliments.
There is no
bar exam, licensing test or professional examination.
Even a barber has to have a license? As a
result, lots of folks have been hooked, landed and cooked
like a blackened red fish from things like ranking
guarantees and buzzwords no one understands, by unscrupulous
folks who don't necessarily know their SEO from a hole in
the ground.
On the flip
side, there are optimizers who prefer to use unethical
methods to earn rankings which are always temporary, because
Google will hunt down and kill YOUR website.
Search for unethical optimization on Google. An
example for you: read my number one page on Google:
best
website submission service. The full page
title is Best Website Submission Service Is Don't Submit.
Then, there
are the large SEO firms who want to sell you a package deal
and provide maintenance. If you have a big website and
are in a highly competitive market that is constant flux
with new products, etc. then this might be what you need.
But, you need to pick a reputable firm and figuring that out
isn't always easy. Please
contact us and I will refer you to colleagues who are
both competent and staffed up to handle big projects.
How I got
started.
I didn't grow
up to be a computer geek or propeller head programmer (I
love what good programmers can do, it's a compliment :).
There weren't any computers when I was born in the last
century. I have been in industrial sales and marketing
most of my life, MBA grad from Pepperdine when the campus
was in Watts, not Malibu, and learned SEO and website design
starting in late 1995, working with a just-out-of-school
computer science grad to create a very simple website for my
industrial ergonomics design & sales company.
My first sale
from the website came from a little company named
Hewlett-Packard out in California, a handsome six figure
design and build job. The photos in the website were
what generated a call from an engineer in San Diego.
The most fun I had working with HP was when they paid me
to go to Barcelona, Spain to help their engineers in San
Cugat de Valles analyze a problem and create a solution,
which we did. In case you might wonder about loyalty
to customers - every piece of computer gear we own is HP
except for the Mac used for video editing. I will have
to buy about 1,000 computers before they get their money back.
I was hooked
(but not landed or cooked like a blackened redfish).
I started
doing websites for friends and nonprofits here in Tennessee.
When we sold our industrial ergonomics business to our
employees in 1998, many of my competitors in the material
handling business asked me if I would do websites for them.
All of them are still clients today. I started doing
website design and SEO full time in 2002. If you check
my domain name history,
you will see that roncastle.com was registered on August 8,
2001.
As
search engine optimization came to the forefront in
succeeding on the Internet, I started learning SEO the hard
way just like everyone else and had better than average
success. But as fast as things were happening, I
realized in late 2004 that I needed to find professional
training and get connected with other SEO folks whose
talents either complimented or exceeded mine.
I searched for
about four months and was the most fortunate person in the
world to find Search
Engine Workshops owned by John Alexander from
Toronto and Robin Nobles from Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
John and Robin are two of the smartest and nicest people on
the planet, excellent instructors and, devoted enough to the
SEO industry to develop, as far as I know, the only
university approved curriculum for search engine
optimization in the world. Better than the training,
John and Robin are now good friends and refer work to me.
Friends are more important than referrals.
Like the only
REAL magic - the magic of knowledge.
The subtitle
above is what John uses as a mantra for the
Free SEO Tip of the Day
email newsletter he sends every day. Mine are "I
expect success" and "Skill is better than luck, but it's
good if you're lucky."
Educated
Clients Make Smart Decisions
We have solid
information in this website where you can educate yourself
about ethical organic optimization subjects. It's not
rocket science but there is a lot to it.
We don't use
any buzzwords to describe what we do. It may be geeky
Greek to you, every endeavor has it's on unique vocabulary.
You can learn. If you choose to work with us, we will
teach you or your webmaster what we do and why we do it.
No BS and no buzzwords allowed.
The proof is
in the pudding?
We don't make
our clients sign contracts or make long term commitments
under any condition, and especially signing your life away
without seeing results.
Baby steps and budgets we understand completely. The
most important thing about SEO from my perspective is first
things first that are needed to lay the best foundation for
a top performing website followed by first things first according to
what will make the greatest difference in YOUR online
success.
I expect
success, and, skill is better than luck, but it's good if
your lucky. I wish you the best of both.
If success and
skill are of interest you, please
contact us. |
